We gather together as people from diverse communities & many shores. We recognise that for millennia God has given stewardship of the land upon which we meet to the First Nations Peoples of this country. We thank them for their care of the land & pay our respects to the Wurundjeri people of the Kulin nation, and their elders both past, present & emerging.

Loved the upper room and candles as symbols. And the many languages of the readings.
It would have been good to hear the Clara Ward singers or others sing the gospel classic “In the upper room”!
It’s hard to hear the phrase “God’s deeds of power” though, in this world where most deeds of power are destructive and oppressive.
We are aware now too of so many stories of the Church’s own misuse of power.
The vulnerability of the baby in the manger, or the suffering of the man falsely accused of being a terrorist are clearly relevant in our time. The stories from the long Pentecost season will be interesting. The early church at least was not a powerful organisation.
